Sambas ist ein indonesischer Regierungsbezirk (Kabupaten) in der indonesischen Provinz Kalimantan Barat. Stand 2020 leben hier circa 638.700 Menschen.[1] Der Regierungssitz des Kabupaten Sambas ist die gleichnamige Stadt Sambas.

Sambas bildet den nordwestlichsten Teil von Kalimantan Barat. Es grenzt im Norden an Malaysia und im Westen begrenzt das Südchinesische Meer den Regierungsbezirk. Südlich von Sambas liegt der Kabupaten Bengkalang und die Kota Singkawang. Administrativ unterteilt sich Sambas in 19 Distrikte (Kecamatan) mit 193 Dörfern (Desa).
Einwohner
2020 lebten in Sambas 638.760 Menschen. Die Bevölkerungsdichte beträgt 95 Personen pro Quadratkilometer. 88 Prozent der Einwohner sind Muslime, 6,8 Prozent Buddhisten, 4,7 Prozent Christen und 0,5 Prozent Konfuzianer.[1]

The emblem of West Kalimantan Province, Indonesia, achieved in 1964. The emblem took forl of five sided shield that represent Pancasila. The green shield contain the image of hexagonal dayak shield, mandau dayak blade, kris. The line across the center, flame, rice and cotton ears. Shield, mandau and kris symbolize the culture of main ethnicity in West Kalimantan; Dayak and Malay. The flame symbolize the everlasting fighting spirit. Rice and cotton symbolize prosperity.
