Portal:Luftfahrt/Bildergalerie

NB-36H with B-50, 1955 - DF-SC-83-09332.jpeg
An air-to-air view of the Convair NB-36H Peacemaker experimental aircraft (s/n 51-5712) and a Boeing B-50 Superfortress chase plane during research and development taking place at the Convair plant at Forth Worth, Texas (USA). The NB-36H was originally a B-36H-20-CF damaged at Carswell Air Force Base, also at Forth Worth, by a tornado on 1 September 1952. This plane was called the Nuclear Test Aircraft (NTA) and was redesignated XB-36H, then NB-36H, and was modified to carry a three megawatt, air-cooled nuclear reactor in its bomb bay. The reactor, named the Aircraft Shield Test Reactor (ASTR), was operational but did not power the plane. The NTA completed 47 test flights and 215 hours of flight time (during 89 of which the reactor was operated) between July 1955 and March 1957 over New Mexico and Texas. This was the only known airborne reactor experiment by the USA with an operational nuclear reactor on board. The NB-36H was scrapped at Fort Worth in September 1958 when the Nuclear Aircraft Program was abandoned.

MQ-25 refuels F-35C.jpg
MASCOUTAH, Ill. (Sept. 13, 2021) An unmanned Boeing MQ-25 T1 Stingray test aircraft, left, refuels a manned F-35 Lightning II, Sept. 13, 2021, near MidAmerica Airport in Mascoutah, Illinois. This successful flight demonstrated that the MQ-25 Stingray can fulfill its tanker mission using the Navy's standard probe-and-drogue aerial refueling method. Testing with the unmanned MQ-25 T1 Stingray will continue over the next several months. The MQ-25A Stingray will be the world's first operational carrier-based unmanned aircraft and provide critical aerial refueling and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance capabilities that greatly expand the global reach, operational flexibility and lethality of the carrier air wing and carrier strike group.

50 days of resisting the occupiers: the 'Dream' will never die. Another enhanced curfew will be imposed in Hostomel until April 20. This place is hard to recognize after the Russian occupation. The damaged airport is peppered with destroyed planes. One of the painful losses is that of AN-225 Mriya ('Dream'). The largest and most powerful transport aircraft on the planet had set 240 world records. But the 'Dream' will never die (Photo by KCSA, Oleksii Samsonov).
