Der Palazzo dei Congressi (deutsch Kongresspalast), eigentlich Palazzo dei Ricevimenti e dei Congressi (deutsch Empfangs- und Kongresspalast), ist eine Mehrzweckhalle im Stadtteil EUR der italienischen Hauptstadt Rom.
Das Gebäude wurde Mitte der 1930er Jahre geplant und 1937 begannen die Bauarbeiten. Der Kongresspalast wurde anlässlich der Weltausstellung 1942 erbaut, da diese wegen des Zweiten Weltkriegs jedoch nicht stattfand, wurden die Bauarbeiten im selben Jahr unterbrochen und der Palazzo dei Congressi erst 1954 fertiggestellt.[1]
Architekt des Gebäudes war Adalberto Libera, der im Auftrag des faschistischen Regimes von Benito Mussolini den Palazzo als Fortsetzung des „Geistes von Rom“ entwarf. Der Eingangsbereich besteht aus 14 weißen Granitsäulen. Libera wollte zunächst viereckige Stützen bauen. Nach dem Eingang befindet sich der Hauptblock des Palazzo, dieser misst 36 × 36 × 36 Meter. Es folgt hinter dem Saal das Auditorium, das mit Holz verkleidet ist.
Der Palazzo dei Congressi liegt am südöstlichen Ende der Viale della Civiltà del Lavoro, einer der drei Hauptachsen des Stadtteils EUR. Am anderen nordwestlichen Ende liegt in etwa 800 Meter Entfernung der Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana. In unmittelbarer Nähe des Kongresspalastes befinden sich mit dem Palazzo dell’INA und dem Palazzo dell’INPS weitere im gleichen Stil errichtete Repräsentativbauten.[2]
Während der Olympischen Sommerspiele 1960 diente der Palazzo dei Congressi als Wettkampfstätte für die Fechtwettbewerbe und für das Fechten im Modernen Fünfkampf.

Le Palais des Congrès (vue arrière) Ce bâtiment a été conçu par l'architecte rationaliste Adalberto Libera en 1938. De l'autre coté, il est précédé d'un vaste portique.d'où émerge la partie centrale sous forme de cube dont l'arrière est visble sur la photographie.
Un nouveau palais des congrès conçu par l'architecte Massimiliano Fuksas est en cours de construction quelques rues plus loin. ___________
La création du nouveau quartier de Rome, appelé EUR : Esposizione Universale di Roma, a été décidée en 1936 par Benito Mussolini (1883-1945) pour célébrer le 20ème anniversaire de la marche sur Rome par une Exposition Universelle qui devait se tenir en 1942. Quelques bâtiments ont été construits mais les travaux d'aménagement et de construction ont été stoppés par la guerre.
Les architectes chargés du projet étaient : Marcello Piacentini entouré de Giuseppe Pagano, Luigi Piccinato, Ettore Rossi, Luigi Vietti.
Les travaux ont repris en 1951 avec l'ambition de faire de l'EUR un quartier d'affaires associé à une zone urbaine d'habitation reliée par le métro à Rome et par le train à Ostie.Autor/Urheber: Husky, Lizenz: CC BY 4.0
