Operation Passage to Freedom
Die Operation Passage to Freedom war eine Rettungsaktion der United States Navy, bei der 310.000 vietnamesische Zivilisten, Soldaten und nicht-vietnamesische Angestellte der französischen Armee von Nordvietnam zwischen 1954 und 1955 nach Vietnam verschifft wurden. Auslöser war der erste Indochinakrieg.

This operation evacuated thousands of Vietnamese refugees from the then newly created Communist North Vietnam to the Democratic South Vietnam. By the end of the operation, the Navy had carried to freedom more than 293,000 immigrants, vehicles, and other cargo.
