Der Schwimmwettkampf über 100 Meter Freistil der Männer bei den Olympischen Spielen 1988 in Seoul wurde am 22. September ausgetragen. Matthew Biondi aus den Vereinigten Staaten gewann mit einem neuen Olympischen Rekord die Goldmedaille. Sein Landsmann Christopher Jacobs sicherte sich Silber und Stéphan Caron aus Frankreich erkämpfte sich Bronze.
