Das Straßenrennen der Männer bei den Olympischen Spielen 1964 in Tokio fand am 23. Oktober 1964 statt.
Austragungsort der 24,354 Kilometer lange Hachiōji-Rundkurs in der Stadt Hachiōji, den es acht Mal zu durchfahren galt. Somit ergab sich eine Gesamtlänge von 194,832 Kilometer. Der Start befand sich vor dem Bahnhof Takao, von dort aus folgten auf den ersten 11 Kilometern des Rennens kurze und steile Anstiege von 65 Meter Höhenunterschied. Danach ging es wieder bergab, ehe am Ende nochmals ein Anstieg zu überwinden war. Der nicht allzu schwere Kurs sowie das Regenwetter sorgten für ein verlangsamtes Tempo und somit blieb das Teilnehmerfeld beisammen.
Es gab einige Ausreißversuche, die jedoch scheiterten. So versucht 1,5 Kilometer vor dem Ziel der Belgier Eddy Merckx sich abzusetzen, jedoch gelang es ihm nur einen Abstand von circa 20 Metern herauszufahren, ehe er wieder vom Hauptfeld eingeholt wurde. Im Schlusssprint setzte sich der Italiener Mario Zanin vor Kjell Rodian aus Dänemark und Walter Godefroot aus Belgien durch.

According to the official website of Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee, Blue Sky(circle) & White Sun(triangles) above the Olympic rings is neither the National Emblem of the Republic of China, nor the Party Emblem of Kuomintang (KMT), but a design in between, where the triangles do not extend to the edge of the blue circle, as registered at International Olympic Committee in 1981 and digitally rendered in 2013. Besides, the blue outline of the five-petaled plum blossom is broader than the red one. Moreover, the CMYK code of the blue one and the Blue Sky & White Sun is "C100-M100-Y0-K0", and different from the Olympic rings (C100-M25-Y0-K0). Note that it's the only version recognized by IOC.
