Southern and western sides of West Virginia Independence Hall, located at 1524 Market Street in downtown Wheeling, West Virginia, United States. Built in 1859 as a federal custom house and courthouse, it became West Virginia's state capitol building during the confusion and conflict of the American Civil War; it is today a museum. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970 and declared a National Historic Landmark in 1988.
