Der M22 motorway (englisch für „Autobahn M22“) ist eine seit 1973 auf rund 9 km Länge ausgebaute, noch nicht auf ganzer Länge fertiggestellte hochrangige Straßenverbindung in Nordirland, die den von Belfast kommenden M2 motorway von Antrim in Richtung Londonderry (Derry) verlängert und sich nach Westen als A6 fortsetzt.[1] Die Strecke ist zugleich Teil der Europastraße 16. Der weitere Ausbau der Strecke ist der politischen Entwicklung in Nordirland zum Opfer gefallen.

The M22 at Ballygrooby. The M22 was intended as a westward extension of the M2 from Antrim to Castledawson carrying traffic for the north west of NI. It opened in two sections in 1971 and 1973 to just beyond Randalstown. The remainder was never built although the statutory procedures are now underway to build a dual carriageway instead. This is the view west towards Castledawson at Ballygrooby near Randalstown.
