Erhaltene Portal Tombs
County: Antrim Armagh Carlow Cavan Clare Cork Derry Donegal Down Dublin Fermanagh Galway Kerry Kilkenny Leitrim Longford Louth Mayo Meath Monaghan Roscommon Sligo Tipperary Tyrone Waterford Wexford Wicklow
SMR steht für „Sites and Monument Record“.

Ballylumford Dolmen - The dolmen also known locally as the "Druids Altar" on the Ballylumford road a short distance from the Power Station. A wall plaque at the site describes it as a single chambered grave erected about 2000-1600 BC Local finds indicate occupation of neighbourhood during Bronze Age but no proof of association with Druids.

Tirnony Dolmen It used to be in the field behind the hedge, but the latter was diverted to show it off more clearly from the roadside. The capstone is supported by three of six upright stones, two of which form the portal. It is believed to be 4000-6000 year old megalithic burial tomb. One of the small non supporting stone was been badly damaged when the capstone on the dolmen has fell off at the end of April in 2010

Portal Tomb at Altcloghfin, Sixmilesross. This is the remains of an elaborate structure, a type of megalithic tomb in use during the Neolithic or New Stone Age from about 3000 to 2000 BC. It is one of twenty such tombs known in Co Tyrone The tomb has three upstanding stones, some loose ones and a good deal of cairn material raising the area of the site above the level of the field. The most northerly stone is a backstone, the most southerly is a portal stone and the one in between is a sidestone. There would originally have been two portal stones which together with the backstone supported an impressive capstone. This was removed in the past and probably broken up. These sites are sometimes known as Druids Altars because of the large capstones, but they are actually burial places of the people who farmed in the area between 4000 and 5000 years ago.
