Liste von Kometen

Die nachfolgenden Tabellen enthalten eine Liste von Kometen, die bei mindestens zwei Periheldurchgängen beobachtet wurden, sowie eine Auswahl von bemerkenswerten nicht- oder langperiodischen Kometen.

Kometen erhalten bei ihrer Entdeckung eine systematische Bezeichnung. Dabei erhalten kurzperiodische Kometen (Umlaufzeit unter 200 Jahren) eine fortlaufende permanente Nummer vorangestellt, sobald sie als solche gesichert sind, insbesondere zum Beispiel durch die Beobachtung eines zweiten Periheldurchgangs.
