Lhokseumawe (indonesisch Kota Lhokseumawe, Aceh Lhôk Seumaw‘è, Jawi لهوکسيوماوي) ist eine Großstadt in der indonesischen Provinz Aceh. Sie gehört keinem Kabupaten (Regierungsbezirk) an, sondern bildet eine Kota (Bezirksfreie Stadt).[2]
Lage
Lhokseumawe liegt im Nordosten Acehs und wird vom Kabupaten Aceh Utara umgeben. Die Stadt hat Meereszugang und liegt an der Straße von Malakka.
Verwaltungsgliederung
Die Stadt gliedert sich in 4 Kecamatan (Subdistrikte) mit 68 Dörfern. Die Kecamatan sind:
- Banda Sakti
- Blang Mangat
- Muara Dua
- Muara Satu
Bevölkerung
Der HDI für die Stadt liegt bei 0,744 und wird somit als hoch eingestuft.[3] Es gibt eine Kirche und 118 Moscheen.
Wirtschaft und Verkehr
In Lhokseumawe gibt es mehrere Strände und Tourismus. Die Stadt verfügt über den Flughafen Malikus Saleh.
