Juno Award/Contemporary Jazz Album of the Year

Der Juno Award für das Contemporary Jazz Album of the Year wurde 1994 eingeführt, nachdem die Kategorie Best Jazz Album aufgeteilt wurde in zwei Kategorien. Der Preis richtete sich an kanadische Künstler mit Instrumentalalben, die dem zeitgenössischen Jazz (bis hin zum Smooth Jazz) zuzuordnen sind. Daneben gab es die Kategorie Traditional Jazz Album of the Year. Der Award in dieser Kategorie wurde 1994 das erste Mal vergeben.^[1] 2014 fand die letzte Verleihung statt, danach wurden die Kategorien für Instrumentalalben im Jazzbereich erneut aufgestellt und teilen sich auf in Jazz Album - Solo und Jazz Album - Group.

Der Name änderte sich mehrfach, so hieß der Award von 1994 bis 1999 Best Contemporary Jazz Album, von 2000 bis 2002 Best Contemporary Jazz Album – Instrumental und von 2003 bis 2014 Contemporary Jazz Album of the Year.
