Grafton Architects
Grafton Architects ist ein irisches Architekturbüro mit Sitz in Dublin. Gegründet wurde es 1978 von den Architektinnen Yvonne Farrell und Shelley McNamara. Beide wurden 2020 mit dem Pritzker-Preis, dem renommiertesten internationalen Architekturpreis, geehrt.[1]
Seit 1992 haben Gerard Carty und Philippe O’Sullivan das Direktorium verstärkt. 2022 kamen Simona Castelli, Matt McCullagh und Kieran O’Brien dazu, Donal O’Herlihy, James Rossa O’Hare, David Healy, Joanne Lyons, Ivan O’Connell, Fiona Hughes, Anne Henry und Steven Connolly wurden zu stellvertretenden Direktoren benannt. Derzeit besteht das Team aus 35 Mitarbeitern.
Grafton Architects haben an zahlreichen Ausstellungen teilgenommen, darunter 2012 an der 12. Architektur-Biennale Venedig, die Sensing Spaces Exhibition 2014 in der Royal Academy of Arts in London, ein Pavillon für die Hundertjahrfeier der Stadt Barcelona 2014 und die Installation The Ogham Wall 2015 im Victoria & Albert Museum in London. 2018 waren Grafton Architects Kuratoren der 16. Architekturbiennale Venedig.[2] Sie luden u. a. Maurus Schifferli, David Chipperfield, SANAA, Lacaton & Vassal, Paulo Mendes da Rocha, Rafael Moneo, Toyo Ito, Eduardo Souto de Moura und Aurelio Galfetti ein.

Yvonne Farrell, together with Shelley McNamara, is a founder of Grafton Architects – their office, which opened in Dublin in 1977. They are Fellows of the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland and International Honorary Fellows of the RIBA. They achieved international fame with the design and construction of the spectacular new building for Bocconi University in Milan, completed in 2008. Their practice began with experimenting with a sophisticated take on European modernism moving toward high-profile public buildings (the Solstice Art Center, Navan 2006; the Office of Public Works, Dublin 2008). They have received many awards for their work (Building of the Year 2008, for the new Bocconi University Building), as well as the Leone d’Argento at the Venice Architecture Biennale in 2012. Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara are Professors in the Accademia di Architettura in Mendrisio and Adjunct Professors in University College Dublin. They have been Visiting Professors in Yale and the Harvard Graduate School of Design. Current work includes IMT University, Paris/ Saclay; New City Library, Dublin and the recently inaugurated UTEC University Campus in Lima, Peru.

Loreto Community School In 1966 nuns of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary, also called the Loreto Order, opened a Secondary School in Milford with an enrolment of 41 pupils, all girls. However, with the advent of free education in 1967, Loreto College became the first co-educational convent school in Ireland. The school status changed from a Secondary School to a Community School in 1996. The new school opened at the beginning of September 2006.
