David Drake

David Drake (* 24. September 1945 in Dubuque, Iowa) ist ein US-amerikanischer Science-Fiction- und Fantasy-Autor.

Leben

Drake ist Vietnam-Veteran, hat als Jurist gearbeitet und gehört inzwischen zu den führenden Autoren im Bereich der Military-SF.

Bei der Zusammenarbeit mit anderen Autoren fungiert er vielfach als eine Art Militärberater und bringt dementsprechende Gesichtspunkte in die Projekte ein. Häufig trägt er „nur“ einen detaillierten Umriss der Handlung (Exposé zwischen 5.000 und 15.000 Wörtern) zu den Werken bei und sieht sich dann selbst nicht als echter Co-Autor, auch wenn er vom Verleger (und mit voller Zustimmung einiger seiner Mitautoren) als solcher aufgeführt wird.
