Daniel Jodoin
Daniel Jodoin (* 2. März 1957 in Granby) ist ein kanadischer Geistlicher und römisch-katholischer Bischof von Nicolet.
Leben
Daniel Jodoin trat zunächst der Ordensgemeinschaft der Steyler Missionare bei und legte 1982 die zeitliche Profess ab. Von 1983 bis 1986 studierte er Philosophie an der Saint Paul University in Ottawa. Nach dem Ausscheiden aus dem Orden setzte er sein Theologiestudium ab 1986 am Priesterseminar des Bistums Saint-Hyacinthe und später am Seminar des Erzbistums Sherbrooke, für das er am 3. Oktober 1992 das Sakrament der Priesterweihe empfing.[1]
Neben verschiedenen Aufgaben in der Pfarrseelsorge war er Verantwortlicher für den Klerus und das Priesterseminar des Erzbistums Sherbrooke. Im Jahr 2000 ging er zu weiterführenden Studien nach Rom und erwarb 2002 an der Päpstlichen Universität Gregoriana das Lizenziat in Dogmatik.[1]
Am 22. Januar 2013 ernannte ihn Papst Benedikt XVI. zum Bischof von Bathurst.[2] Der Erzbischof von Moncton, Valéry Vienneau, spendete ihm am 25. April desselben Jahres die Bischofsweihe; Mitkonsekratoren waren Claude Champagne OMI, Bischof von Edmundston, und Robert Harris, Bischof von Saint John, New Brunswick.
Papst Franziskus ernannte ihn am 18. Oktober 2022 zum Bischof von Nicolet.[1] Die Amtseinführung fand am 16. Dezember desselben Jahres statt.

Symbolism
Arms
Blue is a Marian colour and represents the patron saint of the Diocese of Bathurst, Our Lady of the Assumption. The colour also appears in the arms of the City and Archdiocese of Sherbrooke, where Bishop Jodoin is from and where he served as parish priest before being ordained Bishop of Bathurst. Blue also appears in the arms of the Diocese of Bathurst. The tau cross, or St. Anthony’s cross, a Franciscan symbol, represents the spirituality of St. Francis of Assisi and of Bishop Jodoin. The Stella Maris, or star of the sea, is another Marian symbol and one of the main Acadian symbols, adopted in 1884. The fleur-de-lis represents Bishop Jodoin’s province of origin, Quebec, as well as his province of residence, New Brunswick, as it appears in the arms of both provinces. It also appears in the arms of the City of Bathurst and Granby, where Bishop Jodoin was born. The fleur-de-lis also represents St. John, who was at the foot of the cross with Mary, symbolized by the star (John 19:25). The wavy stripes represent the Yamaska River, which crosses Granby, the Nepisiguit River in Bathurst, and the Chaleur Bay, where Bathurst is located. The wavy stripes also appear in the arms of the cities of Sherbrooke and Bathurst, as well as those of New Brunswick. They also represent baptismal water.
Motto
This Latin phrase, meaning "Love in truth," consists of the opening words of the last encyclical letter of Pope Benedict XVI, who appointed Bishop Jodoin to the episcopacy.
