Diese Bildtafel der Verkehrszeichen in den Vereinigten Staaten beinhaltet die gegenwärtig gültigen Verkehrszeichen für den Straßenverkehr, wie sie im amtlichen Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) und dem Standard Highway Signs (SHS) aufgelistet werden. Insgesamt 23 Bundesstaaten zusammen mit dem District of Columbia und Puerto Rico nutzen das MUTCD ohne Abänderungen, 20 Bundesstaaten nutzen das MUTCD in Verbindung mit einer zusätzlichen staatlichen Verordnung und sieben Bundesstaaten haben eine eigene Verkehrszeichenverordnung.[1] Es gibt auch lokalisierte Versionen in großen Städten, in New York City zum Beispiel gibt es besondere Verkehrszeichen, welche ergänzend zum amtlichen MUTCD genutzt werden. Die MUTCD und SHS sind in sieben allgemeinen Kategorien etabliert. Charakteristisch für die US-amerikanischen Verkehrszeichen ist die weitgehende Verwendung von Textelementen anstelle von Piktogrammen.

Wegweiser
Die Wegweiser-Kategorie enthält diverse Verkehrszeichen für Interstate Highways, Straßenschilder, Meilensteine und Ausfahrtsangaben.
Autobahn
Die Interstate Highways der Vereinigten Staaten sind in Richtung Süden und Westen kilometriert. Andere Highways orientieren sich hingegen an den Grenzen der Countys. Die Ausfahrten richten sich oft nach dem nächstgelegenen, in den USA als Milepost (MP) bezeichneten Kilometerschild. Durch die Zusatzbuchstaben N, E, S, W nach den Straßennummern auf den Schildern an der Straßenseite oder auf Wegweisern werden die Richtungen northbound, eastbound usw. signalisiert.
