Ballon d’Or 1968
Mit dem 13. Ballon d’Or (französisch für Goldener Ball) der Zeitschrift France Football wurde der Nordire George Best vom Manchester United am 24. Dezember 1968 als „Europas Fußballer des Jahres“ mit acht Punkten Vorsprung auf seinen Mannschaftskameraden Bobby Charlton ausgezeichnet. Der Preis wurde von einer Jury mit Sportjournalisten aus 25 Mitgliedsverbänden der UEFA verliehen. Best wurde in 15 Ländern gewählt, dabei stand er bei sieben abgegebenen Voten an erster Position.
