Augusto Ramos Soares

Augusto Soares bei der Olympiade in London 2012

Augusto Ramos Soares (* 22. August 1986 in Becae, Osttimor) ist ein Marathon- und Mittelstreckenläufer aus Osttimor.[1]

Hintergrund

Der 165 cm-große Athlet[1] lief beim ersten Dili-Marathon 2010 auf den zweiten Platz in 2:26:00 Std.[2] Im darauffolgenden Jahr wurde er nochmals Zweiter mit 2:31:54 Std.[3]

Beim Tokio-Marathon 2012 kam Soares nach 2:33:46 Std. ins Ziel.[4]

Soares nimmt an den Olympischen Spielen 2012 in London teil[1] und war der Fahnenträger bei der Eröffnungszeremonie.[5] Er sollte bereits zu den Olympischen Sommerspielen 2008 in Peking, reiste aber nicht an.[6][7] In London war Soares der vorletzte Läufer, der das Ziel erreichte, mit einer Zeit von 2:45:09 Std.[8]

Bei den Olympischen Spielen 2016 in Rio de Janeiro startete Soares auf der 1500 m-Distanz.[9] Mit 4:11,35 war er der langsamste Läufer, der das Ziel erreichte.[10]

Trainer

Für den Dili-Marathon 2013 am 22. Juni trainierte Soares der Olympiateilnehmer von 2000 Calisto da Costa.[11]

The men's marathon of the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, UK took place on an Olympic marathon street course on Sunday 12th August 2012 at 11:00. This was the final day of the 30th Olympic Games.

The London 2012 marathon course is the standard Olympic distance of 26 miles 385 yards and consists of one short lap of approx 2.2 miles followed by three longer laps of 8 miles. The course began on The Mall and travelled past several of the most famous London landmarks. The start/finish line was near the Victoria Memorial. These photographs were taken at the Victoria Embankment. This featured several times on the looped course. Stephen Kiprotich won in 2 hours, 8 minutes, 1 second as he pulled away from the Kenyan duo of Abel Kirui and Wilson Kiprotich Kipsang.
