This image is a copy of the photo that was in the possession of Nicholas Miklouho-Maclay, who corresponded with Sir Arthur Hamilton Gordon when he was High Commissioner for the Western Pacific. The original photo was signed by Gordon, and was later presented by Robertson Wentworth de Miklouho-Maclay (grandson of Miklouho-Maclay) to the NSW State Library in 1971 (Library call no. PXB 60).
