Papermaking in Bhutan. They are making our JDK paper. See website http://khadi.com/shop/category/himalayan-papers/ JDK is an artists’ handmade paper made from the inner bark or bast fibre of de-kar, not to be confused with de-nar (see Tsasho paper). De-kar has a lighter colour and has a superfine silk like quality. It is a native plant of the Himalayan foothills, sustainable and a renewable resource. Plants are cropped above ground level and can be reharvested after 3-4 years. The papermakers are using the Japanese nagashizuki method. The paper is made on a laid mould of split bamboo which gives a laid pattern to the sheet.
