Lines of the German Intercity Train Network as of 2006/2007. Reconstructed using an official train time-table from that era, which was then available at http://www.bahn.de.

• Each coloured line on the map corresponds to one train per hour on that line. Dashed lines represent one train each two hours.
• Black lines represent extensions of the coloured lines that run only some times a day.
• Not all systematic stops of the network are shown. (Especially in the Ruhr area: Duisburg, Bochum, Essen, Solingen, Hagen.)
• Most of the hourly and more direct lines are InterCityExpress trains (with the notable exception of the red IC Hamburg - Dortmund - Mainz). The others are InterCity trains. The latter are cheaper and also stop at more additional stations (which are not shown on this map).
