The flags on this sheet differ slightly from those on another sheet numbered 4 [top left] and 5 [top right].

Großherzogtum BadenDas Großherzogtum Baden war von 1806 bis 1871 ein souveräner Staat, der bis 1813 Mitglied des Rheinbunds und von 1815 bis 1866 des Deutschen Bundes war. Ab 1871 war es nur noch teilautonomer Bundesstaat innerhalb des Deutschen Kaiserreiches. Die Entstehung des Großherzogtums aus der Markgrafschaft bzw. dem Kurfürstentum Baden während der Koalitionskriege ging mit großen Gebietszuwächsen für Baden einher. Das Land war anfangs eine absolute, ab 1818 eine konstitutionelle Monarchie. Im Zuge der in Baden unblutig verlaufenden Novemberrevolution entstand 1918 aus dem Großherzogtum eine demokratische Republik. .. weiterlesen
