Le Morne ist eine kleine von Sklaven gegründete Ortschaft („Village“) im Süden von Mauritius im Bezirk Black River. Sie gehört administrativ zur Village Council Area (VCA) Le Morne. Bei der Volkszählung 2011 hatte der Ort 1300 Einwohner.[1] Sie liegt am Berg Le Morne Brabant an einer seichten Lagune und verfügt über ein großes Wassersportangebot.

In Le Morne arbeiten viele Menschen in Salinen, die das berühmte Meersalz von Mauritius herstellen. Dieses Salz ist für seine gröbere Form bekannt.

The armorial ensigns and supporters of Mauritius are described as:

(a) for arms-

  1. Quarterly azure and or.
  2. In the first quarter a lymphad or.
  3. In the second, 3 palm trees vert.
  4. In the third, a key in pale the wards downwards gules.
  5. In the issuant, from the base a pile, and in chief a mullet argent.

(b) for the supporters-

  1. On the dexter side, a dodo per bend sinister embattled gules and argent, and
  2. On the sinister side, a sambur deer per bend embattled argent and gules, each supporting a sugar cane erect proper,
(c) with the motto "Stella Clavisque Maris Indici” (Latin: Star and Key of the Indian Ocean)
